George Leger’s organization: Only a Child
Created in 1994 when George traveled to Guatemala to reach out to homeless children, Only a Child is now an extensive outreach program. Diane Wilson’s inspiration: Unreasonable Women for the Earth!
In a 2002 speech to Bioneers Diane Wilson concluded with this adaptation of a George Bernard Shaw statement: “ reasonable woman adapts to the world, an unreasonable woman makes the world adapt to her. What this world needs is more unreasonable women!" Her words and extraordinary achievements triggered an electric reaction among the women present. From that moment has emerged an international network of women supporting each other to take bold action based on their values and vision of healing the earth.

Academy for the Love of Learning
Conceived by Frankie’s friend, Aaron Stern, and famed musician Leonard Bernstein, the Academy draws upon the metaphor of music and its inner creative tension between consonance and dissonance at the core of its programming. Among its offerings is Leading by Being, a Personal Leadership training for change agents -- consultants, artists, educators, social entrepreneurs and others who wish to embrace and assist others in embracing the fullness of our human experience.

"Outwit the fearmongers. Read this gutsy gem!"

—Michael Moore

"In this exhilarating jujitsu of a book, there are portraits of extraordinary ordinary people, who have transmuted personal fears into 'unthinkable' acts. In challenging the Official Word they have discovered power in themselves as they discover kinship with 'the Others.' It is liberating stuff."

—Studs Terkel
